Talking About Kinks Without Skipping Consent

Adult conversations about kinks should be legal, consensual, sober, specific, and pressure-free. Boundaries are part of the conversation, not a buzzkill.

Some adults have kinks, fantasies, or preferences they want to discuss with partners. The healthy version of that conversation is not pushy, explicit out of nowhere, or careless. It is legal, consensual, sober, specific, and respectful.

Consent comes first

Consent is an ongoing agreement. It is not assumed because someone matched with you, flirted, dated you before, or said yes to something else. Consent can change, and everyone involved must be able to say yes or no freely.

Keep first messages respectful

Do not open with graphic demands or pressure. Ask whether someone is open to discussing sexual preferences before sending explicit details. If they say no, seem unsure, or stop responding, stop.

Legal and safe only

NexxtDate does not support illegal activity, coercion, threats, nonconsensual behavior, sexual content involving minors, exploitation, or unsafe practices. Any kink-related conversation must stay within the law and within enthusiastic adult consent.

Use boundaries as a filter

Good partners respect limits. Red flags include trying to negotiate after a no, asking someone to ignore health concerns, pushing intoxicated consent, refusing protection, or treating discomfort as a challenge.

For a broader consent foundation, RAINN's Consent 101 guide is a helpful starting point.
